PALADIN CMS BECOMES A FINALIST FOR

THE M&A ADVISORS “2016 M&A DEAL OF THE YEAR” AWARD

AT THE 15th ANNUAL M&A ADVISOR AWARDS

CALGARY, ALBERTA, OCTOBER, 2016 Paladin CMS Advisors (Capital Markets Strategy-CMS) is pleased to announce that they have been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2016 M&A Deal of the Year Award (US$10mm-$25mm category) at this year’s The M&A Advisor Awards. Paladin CMS was nominated for their divestiture advisory work on the Korite Minerals Ltd. and Canada Fossils Ltd. deals, each highly unique, vertically integrated companies.

The M&A Advisor Symposium report, “Canada Now, Prospecting for M&A Gold Beyond the Resource Sector” notes the benefits of USA-Canada cross border business deals, saying there is “such a high degree of similarity in terms of due diligence items and process relative to other cross-border jurisdictions. Common language, similar legal system, very comparable GAAP … even the tax and regulatory constructs are very much aligned.”

“Often Canada is overlooked since the size of our markets are relatively small in comparison to the USA, China and EU,” says Calvin Hughes, Principal and Managing Director of Paladin CMS. “In the Canadian lower-mid market, non-resource M&A sector we see cross-border interest in Canada where the Canadian target is either an ideal fit for a foreign strategic acquirer, where a Canadian company has globally transferable technology and intellectual property or where a Canadian company offers global growth markets for its Canadian goods, and in some cases where buyers see Canada as a stable, safe country offering diversification.  Canadian companies seeking divestiture would do well to pursue domestic and foreign acquirers where these are evident.”

Paladin CMS’s selection as a Finalist for the 2016 M&A Deal of the Year Award now faces evaluation by a sophisticated, independent panel of judges, who will select the ultimate award winners from a prestigious field of contenders in multiple categories in size from  ten million to over a billion US dollars in transaction value.

“The Sale and Divestiture of Korite Minerals Ltd. & Canada Fossils Ltd. is a compelling transaction combining a unique set of materials and products (dinosaur and ammolite fossils and rare jewellery) with end-to-end vertical integration (of mining, production and B2B global distribution),” says David Fergusson, President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of The M&A Advisor. “The M&A Advisor is pleased to recognize this deal as a Finalist in our 15th Annual M&A Advisor Awards.”

Award winners will be announced at the 15th Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala on Wednesday, November 9th at the New York Athletic Club.
